Here are the topics for 2011-12:

• Transportation (cars, motorcycles, bikes, boats, airplanes, rickshaws, trains or any other methods of transportation) – submission due date 24 October
  Images depicting any mode of transportation, either still or moving.
• Photojournalism – submission due date 28 November
  Images depicting people or events in an interactive, emotional or unusual situation. The image should have impact, and may be presented in colour or black and white.  Only minor photo editing such as dodging, burning, toning and cropping are allowed.  Retouching is limited to removal of dust spots.
• Faces – submission due date 9 January
  Images of people (either studio or candid) or animals, including mammals and birds.  The judges will be looking for great expressions and faces that evoke emotions and have impact on the viewer. Inanimate objects that resemble faces (watch faces, clouds, trees with facial shapes) will not be acceptable.
• Patterns, Textures and Shapes – submission due date 13 February
  Images with an emphasis on interesting patterns, textures and shapes.
• Natural Things – submission due date 19 March
  Nature images without the restriction of the “nature” rules. Cultivated flowers and domestic animals are eligible. Subject matter should be zoological, botanical or geographical with a good nature story as a key element of the image. Creative techniques, such as panning, slow shutter speeds for showing motion (silky water, for example), montages of natural things will be acceptable.
  For this competition only, Pictorial images are required to be in Monochrome
• Contemporary, Graphic Images – submission due date 16 April
  Images with strong graphic impact. Get creative and capture images that are unusual and out of the ordinary; push your creativity to the limits.
