Welcome back to a new season with the Richmond Hill Camera Club
The following is a repeat reminder from a past Tips & Tricks in the web’s archives. Important enough to reissue here, I think:
Have you ever pulled out your camera to shoot an image and been disappointed to find that the settings are very much inappropriate for the shot? That is one of several disappointments you can encounter if you ignore some key steps to take upon finishing the previous shoot.
AFTER A SHOOT:
-
Backup your images. Get those images copied to sources apart from the memory card that was used to capture them.
-
Format the memory card in the camera (not on your computer) to ensure space and simple access (pictures are not appended to hundreds of previous images) for your next shoot.
-
Charge your camera batteries. You want all batteries fully charged for your next shoot.
-
Upon inspecting your images look for dust spots or signs that your lenses need attention. Clean/repair any problems.
-
Put back your normal go-to lens on the camera. This might save you a needed switch next time you shoot.
-
Pack your equipment for quick access whenever the need arises.
-
Look for new opportunities to photograph.
