Algonquin Weekend

Pack your snuggies  and come spend a weekend in beautiful Algonquin Park this winter. This should be a great opportunity to photograph winter landscapes and wildlife as well.

I have put a hold on 5 rooms, in addition to my own, for RHCC members at the Best Western Hotel in Huntsville, 86 Howland Dr, Huntsville ON P1H 1M3. (Follow Highway 11 north to Highway 60. Take the first exit right off Hwy60: Centre Street.)

To book a room call 1-866-895-3345. Tell the reservation desk that you are with the Richmond Hill Camera Club and one of these rooms will be booked to your credit card. Note that the hold on these rooms is only until January 23, 2018

There are lots of other hotels/motels in Huntsville if you prefer. That’s up to you. There is a Holiday Inn and a Motel 6 on the same street.

In late February the days are still fairly short so we should have time for a quick breakfast at the hotel before heading into the park. I have chosen to stay in Huntsville as there are many restaurants where we can eat and I have found the hotels a little cheaper than those closer to the park.

What to bring:

Long lens for wildlife.
Wide-angle lens for landscapes
Tripod
Spare batteries and cards. (Batteries generally have a shorter life in the cold.)
Warm winter boots
Warm clothes – Dress in layers
Hand warmers

I will bring bird seed and some set-ups for photographing the resident birds.
