Photographing Severe Weather and Climate Change Effects

George Kourounis is an explorer, photographer, storm chaser and television presenter who is known globally as an expert who specializes in extreme forces of nature and natural disasters. For over 20 years he has been on the scene during Mother Nature’s worst temper tantrums, including tornadoes, hurricanes, volcanic eruptions, avalanches, floods, and any other extreme events you can imagine. His adventures have taken him to over 70 countries, across all seven continents to places such as Madagascar, North Korea, The Congo, Vanuatu, Antarctica, Venezuela, Greenland, and Siberia.

He is an explorer-in-residence with the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, a National Geographic Society expedition leader, and the chairman of The Explorers Club Canadian Chapter. George has given several international TEDx talks and has addressed the United Nations Environmental Emergencies Forum. George regularly appears on television, commenting on weather events and disasters, and has hosted 49 episodes his own TV series “Angry Planet”, which aired globally on numerous networks. He’s also a regular on The Weather Network.

George returns to the Richmond Hill Camera Club on January 6, 2020, showcasing even more of his encounters with extreme forces of nature. He’ll be showcasing stunning photos and hair-raising stories from the most far-flung corners of the Earth with an all-new line-up of images from lightning storms, tornadoes, volcanoes and other extreme events.
