Minden Wild Water Preserve on the Gull River

Minden Wild Water Preserve on the Gull River

Saturday June 22, 2019

WhiteWater Kayaking at MindenWild Water Preserve

Description

After a 2-hour road trip from Richmond Hill to Minden, we’ll meet for a coffee at the local Tim Horton’s restaurant (12597 ON-35, Minden) at 10:30am.

At about 11am, we will car-pool to the Minden Wild Water Preserve and then capture videos and photos of rapids, waterfalls and white-water paddlers (kayaks and canoes).

This is an opportunity for members to create unique images for consideration in the assigned competition topic “Motion” in the 2019-2020 season. Recreational and skilled paddlers routinely play in the rapids of the Gull River on spring and summer weekends.

After capturing photos and videos of white-water kayaking, members are encouraged to get together for a late lunch at Minden 50s Diner.

Tripods, ND filters and polarizing filters are recommended.

Warning

Walking and taking photos along the shore of the Gull River can be hazardous due to slippery rocks and obstacles along the shoreline, and due to the strong currents in the river. Members participate at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety.

Members are encouraged to use sun protection (sun screen, brimmed hats, long-sleeve shirts and long pants) and consider bringing insect repellant as a precaution.

Cost

No cost, except that attendees pay for their own food and beverage
