Minden Wild Water Preserve – Cancelled
We begin this field trip with a Saturday afternoon photo walk at the Minden Hills Cultural Centre, for those who wish to stay overnight in Minden. The Minden Hills Cultural Centre is located on a 4-acre parcel of land in downtown Minden and contains the Agnes Jamieson Art Gallery, the Minden Hills Museum & Pioneer Village, a library and walking trails that lead to the Minden Riverwalk / Minden Boardwalk.
The main event for this photo field trip starts early on Sunday morning. We will take photos and videos of rapids, waterfalls and white water kayaking at the Minden Wild Water Preserve, a very scenic area along the Gull River. This is an opportunity for members to create unique images for consideration in the “Liquids” Competition or the “Seasonal Activities” Competition. Recreational paddlers routinely play in the rapids of the Gull River on summer weekends. It is recommended to arrive early for this photo shoot, since parking may be somewhat limited near the Minden Wild Water Preserve. Tripods, ND filters and polarizing filters are recommended.
After capturing photos and videos of white water kayaking, members are encouraged to get together for brunch at Minden 50s Diner.
Registration will be limited to 12 people for this field trip.
Walking and taking photos along the shore of the Gull River can be hazardous due to slippery rocks and obstacles along the shoreline, and due to the strong currents in the river. Members participate at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety.
Members are encouraged to use sun protection and consider using insect repellant as needed on Sunday’s photo session on the Gull River.
No cost, except that attendees pay for accommodations, food and beverage
