Ripley’s Aquarium Field Trip
Ripley’s Aquarium is located at 288 Bremner Boulevard, Toronto. The Aquarium opens at 9:00am and you are advised to arrive as close to that time as possible. The Aquarium generally starts to get quite busy by 11:00am.
Adults – $35
Seniors – $24.25
You can save a little on the admission price by purchasing a “timed ticket” However, you must arrive during the one-hour time slot that you have chosen when purchasing on-line.
Regular tickets can be purchase on-line or at the door. There are also reduced prices for children and youth should you wish to bring a child/grandchild with you.
While there is parking in the area, it can be expensive. I recommend using public transit to Union Station. It is a short walk to the Aquarium from there.
This is a great opportunity to photograph fish, sharks, rays and other marine species up close and personal!
What to bring.
Camera and a fast lens. (I have had my best success with an 85mm f1.8 lens. I would suggest that you don’t want to use anything slower than f2.8 unless you are using a flash.
Flash, if you wish. Best results seem to be achieved by using the flash off-camera with a cable or a radio remote. Hold the flash away from the camera and close to the glass to avoid having its reflection in the photo.
An inexpensive rubber hood for your lens can help as you can put the front of the lens right up against the glass.
It can be very dark in the corridors. I have found a small flashlight very useful if changing lenses or camera settings
